This scientific program offers an entry-level advanced specialization in the different areas of Applied Linguistics, training students to identify and study problems associated to language in general and specific languages in particular.
To train specialists in the different lines of research of Applied Linguistics, with an overall and theoretical view, are capable of applying their knowledge to the solution of language-related problems. Graduates are qualified to participate in research projects in Linguistics and in the implementation of applications that may contribute to the countryâs scientific and technological development in matters related to this discipline.
Applicants must have a Bachelorâs degree or a professional degree with a curriculum equivalent to that required for the Bachelorâs degree, preferably in areas related to language (Language Pedagogy, Translation, K-8 Education, Preschool Education and Special Education, Speech and Language Therapy, Journalism). However, professionals from other disciplines are welcome to apply provided they demonstrate basic knowledge of Linguistics.
