Description

The program leads to a Master’s degree in History. It aims to train high-level researchers and professors specialized in the main topics developed by the History Department. In accordance with those lines of research, it has two emphases: History of the Americas and History of Chile, with a focus on economic, social, cultural, political history, as well as the history of mentalities and historical demographics. The program covers the main topics, authors and problems related to the history of this continent, and promotes research, reflection and presentation capabilities for historiographical practice.

Objectives

"To train graduates so that they are familiar with the pertinent sources and techniques for each subcategory.
To help graduates develop their skills in research, reflection and presentation for historiographical practice.
To analyze the main topics, authors and problems related to the History of Chile and the Americas.
To create dialogue and expand the main theoretical and methodological topics that motivate current debates surrounding the practice of History.
Graduates will be capable of applying methodological tools to produce historical knowledge, with a special emphasis in the lines of demographic, political, economic and social history."
