Link to magísterThis program was established in 1995 and is oriented towards training researchers with a strong knowledge of Arid Zone Ecosystems. It was created due to the lack of researchers with a strong academic training to conduct studies in these ecosystems in the North of Chile, and due to the demand for professionals with graduate-level training for decision-making processes in the productive sector or government agencies. It has a stable core of full-time faculty, and since 2005 works with researchers from the Center for the Advanced Study of Arid Zones (CEAZA). It also includes the participation of qualified academics from other national and foreign universities with which Universidad de La Serena has signed collaboration agreements. This is a full-time program, consisting of a first year of coursework and preparation of the thesis, and a second year devoted to thesis work.
The program aims to provide students with adequate levels of improvement in the study of Arid Zone Ecosystems, so they may work with greater efficiency and creativity in both teaching and research, or in decision-making processes in public/private organizations.
Applicants must have a Bachelorâs degree or equivalent professional degree.
