Description

The Master in Local and Regional Human Development is an academic interdisciplinary, on-campus program, accredited until 2015, which aims to train: Professionals and academics highly qualified for research and the design, planning, management and evaluation of projects and policies that contribute to local and regional human development; as well as high-capacity leaders capable of directing the process of decentralization and equal development in the regions of Chile and other Latin American countries. Its field of interest is that of people associated in their local and regional communities in developing territories.

Objectives

"To provide students with a strong conceptual foundation, allowing them to engage in advanced reflections on the problems of development and modernization, from the perspective of human development on a local and regional scale.
To develop competencies for the design, management and evaluation of programs, strategies, investments and public, private and academic actions oriented towards local and regional development.
To provide students with advanced methodologies to conduct applied research on processes of local and regional development, with a special emphasis in the production of knowledge that is relevant for the achievement of Human Development."

Candidate Profile

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s or professional degree in areas related to Local and Regional Human Development, granted by a national or foreign university in a program officially recognized in Chile. They must also successfully complete the selection process. Basic English (Reading Comprehension) and a basic knowledge of Statistics are both required. Reading proficiency in Portuguese is desirable. Applicants must provide an initial thesis proposal.
