Description

The Master in Anthropology aims to train Social Anthropologists, Archeologists and Physical Anthropologists, through advanced studies in the disciplines of this field of Social Sciences. It is oriented towards researchers, teachers and professionals in Anthropological Sciences, and seeks to achieve a high-level performance in universities, research centers and public and private institutions. This program is the result of the inter-institution collaboration of two of the most active research centers in Anthropology in the North of Chile: the Institute of Archeological Research and Museum of Universidad Católica del Norte (UCN) in San Pedro de Atacama, and the Department of Anthropology of Universidad de Tarapacá (UTA) and its Museum in San Miguel de Azapa in Arica. It aims to train graduates capable of conducting advanced research in the field of anthropological research in original and creative ways. In order to position the program on a macro-regional level (Andean Center-South), efforts have recently been made to internationalize the graduate program in Anthropology as a whole.

Objectives

"The objectives of this program are:
To train graduates capable of conducting advanced research in the field of anthropological research in original and creative ways.
To decentralize graduate training by benefiting from the scientific experience and productivity of sponsoring institutions, as well as the anthropological wealth of the area where the program is taught.
To support graduate training through the participation of students in advanced anthropological research activities carried out by academic units.
To strengthen graduate training with student and academic exchange activities, through cooperation agreements with national and international universities and research centers. "

Candidate Profile

The Master in Anthropology is designed for professionals in the fields of Social Anthropology, Archeology and Physical Anthropology, as well as related disciplines such as History, Sociology, Museology and Conservation, among others. Applicants must have completed an undergraduate program of at least 8 semesters in a Chilean or foreign university.
