Description

The Master of Nutrition and Food Science with an emphasis in Human Nutrition focuses on the biochemical and physiological aspects of normal nutritional processes in human beings, models of pathologies and diseases related to frequent nutritional alterations in Chile and Latin America. This is an academic/professional program. Graduating students will be able to work at universities, teaching or conducting research, in governmental positions with the Ministry of Health, at hospitals and other public institutions.

Objectives

To train graduates capable of mastering the theoretical and practical aspects of Food and Human Nutrition, preparing them for teaching at universities and joining research teams to work on creative solutions to problems in developing countries. Graduating students are expected to learn how to reflect, to adopt an proactive attitude, and to discuss and defend their ideas in the field of Human Nutrition.

Candidate Profile

"Health Care professionals, especially Physicians, Nutritionists, Biochemists, Bachelor’s in Biology and/or Biotechnology.
Applicants must have a national or foreign Bachelor’s degree, or a professional degree with a level, content and training similar to those required to earn a Bachelor’s degree from Universidad de Chile, in the fields of Natural Science, Social Science or Mathematics, related to Food and Nutrition. Applicants must have a broad command of the Spanish language and demonstrate proficiency in scientific English."
