To provide up-to-date knowledge in Nutrition, Epidemiology, health awareness, and the evaluation of programs for the promotion and prevention of chronic diseases, in order to provide the information and skills necessary to understand the most prevalent nutritional problems, how to create health promotion or prevention programs, how to evaluate such programs, and, finally, how to provide recommendations for public or private institutions regarding such issues.
To learn about the most relevant national and regional nutritional and food problems, along with their risk factors, as well as the methodologies used to design, implement and evaluate health promotion and nutrition-related disease prevention programs. Graduates of this program teach and conduct research at universities, work in governmental positions (especially with the Ministries of Health and Planning), and in other governmental or non-governmental institutions. To train human resources capable of critically evaluating, selecting and applying the most adequate methodologies and techniques to resolve or confront nutritional problems on a population level; to design, plan and evaluate health and nutrition promotion programs; and to analyze local and international experiences in health promotion and nutrition-related disease prevention.

Applicants must have a national or foreign Bachelorâs degree or a professional degree, with a level, content and training similar to those required to earn a Bachelorâs degree from Universidad de Chile, in the fields of Natural Science, Social Science or Mathematics, related to Food and Nutrition. "
