Description

This program is concerned with the study and design of the spatial and formal relationships between buildings, the space surrounding them and the citizens who inhabit them. It aims to reflect on the uses and the future physical form of urban-scale developments. This program deals with the Urban Project in three dimensions, applying design principles to the problems and processes that arise in planning the city and its territories. Its emphasis is on the public space and the design of streets, plazas, parks and boulevards, as recognizable spaces and inhabited urban locations.

Objectives

This Master’s program is designed for those with Bachelor’s and professional degrees, who wish to acquire graduate competencies and knowledge for the study and urban design of cities. It combines methods and tools for the design of city-scale projects, with the knowledge required for its planning, management and implementation. Through workshops and specialization courses, the program provides the ability to understand contemporary urban phenomena and debates, urban analysis, the definition of programming strategies, and the design and reflections on the spatial configuration of cities, neighborhoods, collective spaces and complex buildings, both in urban regeneration zones and in new zones of territorial growth.

Candidate Profile

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s or professional degree in the fields of Architecture, Civil Engineering or Design, or a discipline related to the program’s interests, with a level equivalent to the one granted by Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
