This Master’s program provides general training in Clinical Psychology, allowing students to work in the vast field of Clinical Psychology. It is a broad specialization in the field of Clinical Psychology, which develops instrumental competencies that are essential to professional work in the different fields of clinical promotion, prevention and care in the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of health care. It simultaneously prepares students for conducting applied research, that is, research designed to answer questions arising from the professional practice of this discipline, responding to the definition of the professionally-oriented Master’s program accepted by the CNA. This program has a 2-year duration, through daytime sessions with full-time dedication and a semestral structure. Students work in public or private health care institutions, under agreements subscribed by the School of Psychology.

Objectives

This Master’s program in Clinical Psychology aims to provide specialized training to help understand and respond to relevant problems in mental health, using the technical and scientific tools of Clinical Psychology critically and with an ethical professional framework. At the same time, it seeks to: develop professional competencies in the attitudinal, cognitive and instrumental fields, oriented towards the promotion, prevention and rehabilitation of mental health; expand and manage current mental health theories, using conceptual and instrumental tools for general clinical diagnoses, analyses and interventions, contributing their knowledge and participating in health care teams along with other professionals; and reflect on the ethical aspects of clinical psychological work, both in the field of personal care and research—this is a common goal for the entire program.

Candidate Profile

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Applicants must have a professional degree in Psychology. If this degree was granted by a foreign university, it must be legalized before the Chilean Consulate in the country of origin; and must comply with the professional validation procedure in Chile or be from a country that has a professional recognition agreement with Chile. *These countries are: BRAZIL, COLOMBIA, ECUADOR, SPAIN, URUGUAY, BOLIVIA, COSTA RICA, EL SALVADOR, GUATEMALA, HONDURAS, NICARAGUA, and PERU.
