Description

The Master in Letters, with an emphasis in Linguistics, is an academic program that aims to train specialists in Language Sciences with a broad, profound and up-to-date general theoretical knowledge in the basic disciplines of Grammar, Semantics, and Phonetics and Phonology, as well as the specialization they choose to develop their thesis. Besides the aforementioned disciplines, it also includes studies in Discourse, Computer Linguistics, Language Disorders and Psycholinguistics. Its goal is to give researchers the ability to identify which specific paradigm and methods to use according to the nature of their object of study and their research goals.

Candidate Profile

Applicants to the Master in Letters with an emphasis in Linguistics must meet the following requirements: a) Must have a fundamental knowledge of general Linguistics, as well as studies in the areas of Grammar, Semantics and Phonetics and Phonology. It is desirable for their knowledge to include other disciplines of Linguistics, such as studies in Discourse, Pragmatics, Psycholinguistics, Sociolinguistics, etc. b) Must accredit excellent performance in undergraduate courses related to Language Sciences. c) Must demonstrate the ability to design a basic research project in a field of Linguistics. d) Must have excellent reading comprehension skills for Linguistics texts, both in Spanish and English.
