Description

The Master in Theology requires a canonical Bachelor’s degree and is taught over the course of 4 semesters. The curriculum offers methodological seminars and courses, seeking to train a researcher in their chosen theological field. It concludes with the presentation and defense of a thesis developed during the program, under the guidance of a thesis advisor, and grants a Canonical Degree for teaching Theology.

Objectives

The Master in Theology introduces research methods in a specific field, thus preparing professionals for a future PhD and allowing them to teach Theology at universities, higher learning institutes, diocesan seminars, and for tasks that require further theological preparation in education, the intellectual world and pastoral tasks. Specializations: Dogmatic Theology, Patristic Theology, Fundamental Theology.

Candidate Profile

Admission requirements: A Canonical Bachelor’s degree in Theology, with good grades. Fluency in reading two of the following modern languages: English, French, German and Italian, plus Latin of the Magisterium and New Testament Greek. Applicants may be admitted with good fluency in only one language, but must acquire fluency in the other three by their second year. Applicants who do not have a Bachelor’s degree must take an exam for a Canonical Bachelor’s degree in Theology, passing with a grade of 5.0 or higher (on the Chilean scale of 1-7).
